With effect from 01 July 2014, this Privacy Policy (“Policy”) forms a part of the terms and conditions governing your relationship with Sindo Ferry Pte Ltd and its related corporations (collectively “Sindo Ferry”, “we” or “us”) (“Terms and Conditions”) and should read in conjunction with those Terms and Conditions.
This Policy outlines Sindo Ferry’s policy and responsibility in relation to the collection, use and disclosure of Customer Data. This allows us to provide services and features that most likely meet your needs, and to customise our service to make your experience safer and easier. We only collect Customer Data that we consider necessary for achieving this purpose.
Customer Data in this Policy is being categorised into two different types, depending on the type of the service requested and/or transaction made.
We automatically track certain information based upon your behaviour on the Site. We use this information to do internal research on our users’ demographics, interests, and behaviour to better understand, protect and serve you. However, this information will not be stored on your customer record, and is entirely anonymous.
We may collect personal information about you when you use our services, make or update a booking to use our services, register to receive our newsletters or other communications, register to be part of one of our Loyalty programs, enter into one of our competitions, visit our websites, complete one of our surveys or otherwise interact with us. This includes exchanging information with other companies and organisations for the purposes of fraud protection and credit risk reduction.
We will retain your Customer Data for as long as it is necessary to fulfil the purpose for which it was collected, or as required or permitted by applicable laws. We will cease to retain Customer Data, or remove the means by which the data can be associated with you, as soon as it is reasonable to assume that such retention no longer serves the purpose for which the Customer Data was collected, and is no longer necessary for legal or business purposes.
In the course of Sindo Ferry performing functions such as making a trip booking, Customer Data will, by nature of the task or transaction, be provided by our customers and passengers to Sindo Ferry. In such instances, consent will necessarily be implied from the Customer that they are agreeable to providing Customer Data in order for Sindo Ferry to provide and/or process the requested or necessary service to them. However, where required by law, Sindo Ferry will adopt an ‘opt-in’ policy for obtaining customer consent, in which event, express written consent will be sought from you when collecting your Customer Data e.g., signing a form or checking a box. Where you make reservations on behalf of another person, you undertake and will ensure that the individual whose Customer Data is supplied to us has authorised the disclosure, is informed of and consents to the terms and conditions of this Privacy Policy.
Statistical Data is not linked to a Customer Data and therefore, Sindo Ferry will not seek consent for the collection, use or disclosure of Statistical Data.
If you would like to request access to, or correction of, Customer Data we hold about you, please contact our Customer Service Department. Where permitted by law, we may recover from you our reasonable costs of supplying you with access to this information. However, we will not charge you for the making of the request or to correct or update your Customer Data.
In exceptional circumstances, Sindo Ferry reserves the right to refuse to provide you with access, or correct, the Customer Data.
For Customer Data that collected through Sindo Ferry’s website, we implement a variety of security measures to maintain the safety of your Customer Data when you place an order or enter, submit, or access your Customer Data. We offer the use of a secure server. All supplied sensitive/credit information is transmitted via Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology and then encrypted into our Payment gateway providers database only to be accessible by those authorized with special access rights to such systems, and are required to keep the information confidential.
After a transaction, your Customer Data (credit cards, social security numbers, financials, etc.) will not be stored on our servers. However, “perfect security” does not exist on the Internet, so we cannot give an absolute assurance that the information you provide to us will be secure at all times, and we cannot responsible for any event arising from unauthorised access to your Customer Data. We will not be held responsible for events arising from third parties gaining unauthorised access to your Customer Data.
Internally, we have procedures in place that require our employees and data processors to respect the confidentiality of any Customer Data held by us. The offline Customer Data (if any) is secured with appropriate security technologies.
Cookies are small files that a site or its service provider transfers to your computer hard drive through your Web browser (if you allow) that enables the sites or service providers systems to recognise your browser and capture and remember certain information.
